Job Description Summary

Viega LLC is looking for a knowledgeable and personable People Generalist that has a passion for establishing strong partnerships, building an inclusive culture, and contributing to an impactful people strategy. This role is responsible for supporting initiatives related to our manufacturing facility in McPherson, KS. The People Generalist will bring a strong tie to the local community, understand the labor market, how to attract technical and professional talent while executing the people workstream. Other HR support includes, employee relations, organizational design, performance management, staffing, recruiting, policy, and process improvement, and providing consistent guidance that fosters a productive and supportive culture. This individual will be the main contact for colleagues and leadership in driving value-added service that reflects the Viega Values and achieves essential business objectives.

Job Description Details

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for the Viega LLC company culture and values – Achieve Goals, Be Empowered, Show Respect, Assume Responsibility, Build Trust.
  • Drive and champion a safety focused culture.
  • Work in concert with the McPherson, KS Plant project team as a member of the People Workstream to ensure execution of project plan initiatives, goals and objectives.
  • Be an active leader in the community to drive employer branding of Viega to attract and retain talent.
  • Ensure that value is the principle in the choices we drive, and the advice provided in maintaining a culture of accountability, respect, and trust.
  • Be the conduit for new employee onboarding and training as new employees
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure best practices and compliance are followed.
  • Support and enhance an impactful environment by driving open communication, resolving conflicts, coaching leadership on effective management as well as coaching and development techniques.
  • Drive and encourage the successful performance of employees and leaders.
  • Support the onboarding process and manage the offboarding process.
  • Recommend actionable initiatives for improvement related to culture employee morale.
  • Manage formal investigations and guide on resolutions in a variety of complex employee relation matters.
  • Drive full-cycle recruitment efforts to build the workforce from the ground up.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure headcount and forecasting are accurate and properly aligned.
  • Interprets company policy and ensures legal compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership and Talent Acquisition on job descriptions and hiring strategy.
  • Support colleagues and partner with leaders to develop internal talent.
  • Manage unemployment, employee changes, and exit interviews.
  • Support change management initiatives, performance management, and succession planning.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting required
  • Comfort with ambiguity, lack of structure and building things from scratch
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information
  • Highly knowledgeable in managing employee relations and investigations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels
  • Ability to approach each scenario from all perspectives
  • Focused on achieving defined results and exceeding goals and objectives
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the capability of delivering presentations to any size group
  • Capable of embracing change and new ideas

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required
  • PHR certification is strongly preferred
  • 5 years of experience administering HR programs, disciplines, and employee relations in a manufacturing or industrial setting

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Total Rewards Package

Compensation

  • Base: $73,000.00 to $99,700.00 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
