RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions -
Provide academic advising services to students who have declared a major in academic Department 3 (Fine Arts & Humanities) and Department 4 (Natural Science, Social Science, & Mathematics), particularly Elementary Education.
Communicate with representatives from other colleges on topics related to transfer.
In cooperation with Student Success Center staff, develop and coordinate career advising, orientation, and student engagement activities.
Maintain articulation documents using computerized delivery systems.
Implement retention procedures including a variety of intervention activities.
Utilize multiple contact management delivery systems (e.g., virtual, text, call, chat, face to face, email, and/or other) and document student communications accordingly.
Maintain resource materials related to advising.
Assess students and potential students utilizing college adopted assessment tools.
Participate actively on institutional committees.
Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
Attend Department 3 and 4 staff meetings.
Secondary -
Recruitment Efforts: Collaborate with Admissions and Outreach to recruit prospective students for Department 3 (Fine Arts & Humanities) and Department 4 (Natural Science, Social Science, & Mathematics) through targeted outreach and recruitment strategies.
Marketing and Communication: Assist in developing and creating enrollment marketing materials, including letters, brochures, website content, email campaigns, and other mediums aimed at prospective students for Departments 3 and 4.
High School Outreach: Visit high schools to speak to groups and individual students, meet with school counselors and teachers, and establish relationships to foster interest in Department 3 and 4 programs.
Prospective Student Database: Build and maintain a database of prospective students for Departments 3 and 4, tracking engagement and follow-ups.
Data Analysis and Research: Audit student data and conduct research to identify potential students for recruitment efforts. Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and adjust as necessary.
Event Planning and Execution: Organize and host career days, major days, and other events at HutchCC to engage and attract prospective students to Department 3 and 4 programs.
Campus Tours and College Fairs: Conduct group and individual campus tours for prospective students. Attend college fairs and recruitment events for Departments 3 and 4 as needed.
Collaboration with Departments: Work closely with Departments 3 and 4 Faculty and staff to identify and address recruitment needs, trends, and opportunities.
Travel for Recruitment: Travel to various locations as needed to meet with prospective students for Department 3 and 4 recruitment purposes.
Scholarship Assistance: Assist in determining scholarship awards for Department 3 and 4 students as part of the recruitment and enrollment process. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Advising and Career Development in collaboration with department Chairs from Departments 3 and 4.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Academic advising or related experience preferred.
The ability to work with students with varied needs. This person must also be able to work effectively with faculty and staff.
Computer literacy, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software, is preferred.
Physical requirements: Excellent verbal, written and listening skills; Must have the ability to sit for stand or extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, and to operate additional office equipment; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; attentive to detail, accurately follow written and verbal instructions, work independently, sedentary/indoor work environment

SALARY and STATUS:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12-months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.
