Back-End Data/Infrastructure Engineer (Remote)

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring a skilled Back?End Data/Infrastructure Engineer with hands?on experience in building and maintaining data pipelines, managing cloud?based data integration tools, and supporting analytics and reporting through Power BI. This role is critical in ensuringreliable, secure, and efficient data flow across platforms and enabling insightful business intelligence. This position is fully remote, located in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and workflows using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data across cloud and on?premises sources.

  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models to support high?performance data operations and analytics.

  • Configure and manage Self?Hosted Integration Runtime (SHIR) for secure data movement between on?premises and cloud environments.

  • Implement and support data infrastructure solutions , ensuring scalability, availability, and performance across environments.

  • Assist in development and refine new data sources and reports available to VA.

  • Assist in testing and the creation of test cases.

  • Assist with Authority to Operate (ATO) renewal.

  • Work closely with data analysts and business users to provide Power BI datasets, calculated columns, and optimized queries for reporting and visualization.

  • Monitor data flows, perform root cause analysis for failures, and implement logging, alerting, and auditing where needed.

  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security standards, and best practices in both development and deployment processes.

  • Assist in developing security and accessibility of the information provided through Access to Care reporting, to implement cyber security, and comply with 508 and other relevant regulations/requirements.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelorswith 12+ years (orcommensurateexperience)
  • ProficiencyinAzure Data Factory, including pipeline orchestration, linked services, datasets, and triggers.
  • Strong knowledgeofT?SQL, relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL, SQL Server), and performance tuning.
  • Experience withSHIR setup and troubleshootingfor hybrid data integration.
  • Familiarity withPower BI data modeling, DAX calculations, and report performance optimization.
  • Understandingofcloud infrastructure(Azure preferred), data security, and access management.
  • Strong analytical andcritical thinking skills, with an ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience withCI/CD for data pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and deployment automation is a plus.

Clearance required
  • Ability to obtain andmaintaina suitability/Public Trust

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job?related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an at?will position and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $160,000.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.
